Here ya go earle - forget what all the pretentious snobs are recommending, and go for this little humdinger. It's not only whisky, but also Coke, and ice, AND .... a slice of lemon. Yeahhhhh!

Dishonorable mention. I can certainly attest to there being more than a kernel of truth to the cautionary rhyme 'Beer before liquor', in my case at least. An aperitif turned into a bit over half a bottle of that devil semen. The following days nausea was horrid and crippling. Been over a month since I could even look at this photo. A decent cockle warmer though it must be said. Would probably drink again.

I’m very new to whisky, having become good friends with a Scotsman lol. I like the peaty ones. Had the bottle a while but thought I’d crack it with a toast to Sir Sean

Unfortunately DM does not exist down here so we have to contend with bws, shitty bottle shops associated with bad suburban pokies pubs and a very few specialty shops in the cbd. Obviously cellar door/distillery buys too but that doesn’t happen every day. I’ll keep an eye out for the GM chardonnay. Love so many single malts (arbelour a’bunadh, lagavulin, bruichladdich, glenmorangie port and sherry, macallan 12, bunnahaibhan) but just don’t get much opportunity down here to buy readily. A colleague has started making whisky (commercially) so keen to try some of his new make at tas whisky week this month. We also like nancy whisky. So my colleague has just released his/their first batch. I signed up for the ballot to purchase (limited bottles available) but really can't afford it. Hope they do well though. Another mod can tell me if I'm pushing ad boundaries but presuming brand names are not only relevant but required in this thread : Taylor & Smith. mje1980 - try some bruichladdich 10, ardbeg, lagavulin 16 and bunnahaibin for some other delicious islay whiskies. I find laphroaig a bit one dimensional for my tastes but love a decent peat hit when done right. Steer clear of Glen Moray peated - they do a few decent entry level speysides which is their region but their Islay mockery is a mockery. And we now have DM's so my access to range has opened up a bit.
