Update on this for those interested, the filter worked a treat, especially for me as I have no way to cold crash my fermenatasaurus, at least until winter where it gets cold in the mountains.
Kegged a batch a few days ago and had no issues with the filter clogging. Best yet the float helped the end of the tube stay sitting on top of the trub which meant I could get about 750ml more out of the batch.
One thing I noticed during active ferment and dry hop was that the filter would float right to the top horizontally which looked like it would cause issues when later transferring to the keg but once ferment had finished and most of the hops settled so did the filter.
Very happy i can free ball my hops as I've seen too many photos of hop socks tainting a batch by a lapse in sanitation.
Thanks for the update, I've just purchased one. My hop socks get far too swollen with massive IPA dry hops and make me worried about utilisation.
No worries. Gotta get the most out of that hop investment. Just remember I had to drill the filter out to fit the dip tube, 8mm drill bit worked for me but your system may be different.
I need to rig up something similar to the inside of my bucket style FV, or to a siphon, ......or just buy a second fermetasaurus
