Hey All
Much as i love homebrew and craft beer, i still like to have the odd carton of slop like a carlton druaght around as my mates dont like homebrew or craft beer
so i dont bring out the good beers with them
the past 2 weeks i have brought a slab of carlton draught and i usually put an order myself as i dont go much on carlton draught these days
so i have been doing my shopping for beer online from a local bottleshop
past 2 weeks this is my order
1xcarlton draught (i supply the grog for the golf game my mate pays for my cart and game) =$50 a 8 pack of coopers XPA = $23 something like $60 a ctn
i get the beerwench to pick up on her way home
each time i have put my order in they have supplied me with a ctn of xpa for $23 bucks
I am not going to mention the bottleshop , i dont want to ruin a good thing here
so what bottle shop stuff ups have you gained by?

David Jones in Sydney once sold me a bottle of 1962 Penfolds Bin 60A for the price of the current vintage Bin 28, presumably because they both have Kalimna on the label. At that stage DJ's was owned by Adsteam who also owned Penfolds, so the bottle came from their show cellars in Tempe. It has been called the greatest wine ever made in Australia (I haven't tried all the others so I can't confirm that).
The same place sold me 6 bottles of '82 Mouton Rothschild for $44 each because they didn't know the difference between it and Mouton Baronne Phillipe.

Six pack of Zwiec Porter, 9.5% for $11. Or in my case the carton for $44.
That was from Dans abut four years ago, so didn't feel sorry for Woolies' loss there.

Sounds like you gained an unexpected hangover and some impromptu lamenting the lost princess there too Bribie! Excellent score, a great beer.

Not so much a bottleshop stuffup, but NOMAD's pop up bar in Tamworth was closing while I was there for a few weeks for work in 2019 and sold all their cans for $3 each I bought a 6 pack of Alesmith Speedway Stout for $18, they're usually $22-ish per can... Also got a mixed carton for $50, sadly a lot of the hoppier beers were close to use by so were a bit lackluster Still got 3 cans of the stout in the keezer, I really should crack another soon

Back when LCPA was brand new, and a celebration of freshly harvested Cascade instead of whatever the heck it is now, I scored a carton for the price of a single bottle. The label on the shelf actually showed the same price for both, so I thought I'd take it to the checkout and roll the dice. It beeped through without the attendant batting an eyelid.

Dan's had a special on St Feuillien's the large champagne type bottles, reaching their use by date (which is no problem for a beer like this). Anyway it included free delivery and at the time I was working in Biloela with little or no decent beers to be had. So I thought why not I'll order two bottles for special weekend, when they arrived I had two cartons ! Six bottles to a carton, yes it was a special weekend.

Not a beer thing, but one of my biggest scores was at Bunnings a few years ago when I needed a hand / sack trolley for wheeling things round the brew shed - not one of those $40 compulsory blue or red colour with the blow up wheels, but the proper warehouse silver coloured collapsible ones with the solid wheels and the bigger platform, perfect for moving cubes and FVs, usually about 140 bucks.
They had one on special for about $100 so at the checkout instead of the mature ladies there was a young lassie (checking out her phone as it happened). She looked up at me as I disturbed her browsing and got out the barcode gun. Barcode was missing on this trolley. I said "It's the collapsible one on special"
Checking the screen she said "like does it have like four wheels or like two wheels".
Two wheels.
On special... ok that's like $7.50 ( from memory) like thanks like have an awesome like day.
I shut up and headed for the car. Docket said "Special: two wheel shopping trolley, small, foldable $7.50".

Not bottleshop, or even beer related.
Was doing some work this week on the caravan, installing a diesel heater, and needed to extend some 12v wiring. I needed about 7m so ordered 10m just to be safe. When I walked out of Jaycar I thought "that looks like a looong 10m".
Finished the job last night and still have 11m left for the next project.

Not beer related either but I scored a heap of rib fillet a while back for 44c a kg. Was supposed to be $44 a kg. Some poor bastard would have been in deep shit for that one.

This has happened to me since we started living and working in Muswellbrook/Scone I work in the equine industry, talking to farmers, campdrafters and breeders all day long has really changed the way I talk When we head back to Coffs Harbour to visit friends and family, people are commenting how different I sound now

Well,I was intoxicated at a mates party from beer I purchased from a liquor store when I met the woman who would become my future wife. No doubt she found my VB induced gregarious, disinhibited swagger alluring. She's younger, more attractive, smarter and basically a better human being across the board than me. I got a bargain.

I remember back in the late 1970s in Tamworth when Myers (or Farmers) still sold booze. They had a good supply of Wolf Blass' then top label, but priced them only as the then base yellow label. We didn't mind buying up all they had. As for wives, I punched above my weight too as Dave70 did. When you trot out with a lady you can proudly appear with in front of your mates, and who you can also take home for full approval by mum, you know you have it made.
